The idea of connecting and inspiring cultures of Europe through music in Krzyżowa was jointly conceived by Viviane Hagner and Matthias von Hülsen. The idea evolved into a fully-fledged chamber music festival: what started as two people with a common vision has now grown into an experienced team organising Krzyżowa-Music.
"Inspired by the many summers I spent at the Marlboro Music School and Festival in Vermont as well as by my activity on the Advisory Board of the Freya von Moltke Foundation, I discovered Krzyżowa to be the perfect place for such a chamber music festival in Europe. I am delighted that a number of my colleagues, including seniors of Marlboro, are joining me to make this new European music project possible."
Matthias von Hülsen,
„It is with great joy that I took up Viviane Hagner’s idea of Krzyżowa-Music, to which I can now contribute my many years of experience in founding and running music festivals in Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Krzyżowa is very close to my heart and I am deeply committed to it, not least through my board activity in the Freya von Moltke Foundation.“ “
"Krzyżowa-Music is an especially beautiful and prestigious project for Krzyżowa. As Fundraising Manager for the Krzyżowa Foundation for Mutual Understanding in Europe, I am delighted to ensure that Krzyżowa-Music is also financially secure.“

„Especially these days, when Europe is facing new challenges on a daily basis, we need people who set an example of what it means to live the European idea. Culture, and music in particular, has the power to evoke a Europe that reaches beyond the political dimension, creates new connecting visions and inspires the people. Having lived in both Western and Eastern Europe, a united Europe is very close to my heart - Krzyżowa-Music shows this all is possible!“

The concept of Krzyzowa-Music to connect young promising musicians with more experienced and well-established musicians, to let them rehearse and learn from one another, is fantastic. For about a month, he historically important place Krzyzowa gives space for high level music making. I am looking forward to help create this second season of Krzyzowa-Music with many new ideas.“
